WSH: Wireless Studio Harness: Citizens Band is favorite and most versatile form of wireless studio, for producing and sharing audio between studios and pirate stations. Most AM (amplitude modulated) CB radios transmit and receive audio fed as line output for transmitters, recorders, and computers, with this harness. Construction: All outside connectors to outside. All inside to inside. A 1/8 male audio plug is wired to a female 1/8 plug, for monitoring, and to an RCA plug, through a longer twin wire The center conductor wire to the RCA plug is cut. a 220 ohm 1/2 watt resistor is soldered in series, and a 100 ohm 1/2 watt resistor, closer to the RCA plug, is soldered in shunt, across the two wires. 3/16 fishtank tubing is slipped over the two resistors, for insulation. Two lengths of tubing, 2 inches each, are slipped on the wires, before the resistors and RCA plug are soldered in place.
Variations: 1. A second RCA plug may be added in parallel to the first, if a stereo transmitter is fed. 2. If the harness does not find negative ground at the fed transmitter, solder a wire to the 1/8 male plug outer terminal, to wake up the audio circuit during CB transmit, and connect the wire to negative ground of the CB radio. Single Sideband CB radios will not produce audio for the studio, on transmit. See article: Attenuated mono headphones.
